Cultural Educational Offers

Cultural Educational Offers

We take our educational mandate seriously. This is visible not only when looking at the 2400 students making music at our music school but also with regard to our involvement in cultural education initiatives:

In recent years, we have successfully built a network of schools, kindergartens, youth clubs, cultural institutions, theatres und organisers, with the aim of initiating cooperative projects for, and alongside of,  children and teens.

Cooperation with schools and kindergartens

We are productively working together with the Heinrich-Schliemann Gymnasium, the Max-Planck-Secondary School and the Andreas Gymnasium. Students from these schools have performed at our annual „Tomate Rockt!“ show, as well as at joint choir concerts and other events. Our network is steadily growing!

Meeting children and teens where they are:

With our format  „Meine Schule Rockt!“ (“My School Rocks!”), we deliberately approach schools, kindergartens and youth clubs, to offer, for example, band coachings, concerts or musical workshops on-site. We want to offer children and teens the opportunity to be creative outside of the classroom as well. With the support of our professional staff, the students can learn not only musical but also social skills. Most importantly, they will experience the joy of making music together!

Music, theatre, audio plays and more – our projects:

We are very happy to be supported by the youth and family foundation of the federal state of Berlin “jfsb” for the second time already. With their help, we were able to realise “Jugend rockt den Prenzlauer Berg” (“the youth rocks in Prenzlauer Berg”) in 2019. This project allows for socially disadvantaged teenagers interested in music to participate in vocational workshops (e.g. event technology, vocal training, project management), as well as in band coachings, and to perform at “Tomate Rockt!”.

In 2020, the jfsb supported our cooperative project „Undine spricht!“ alongside the Haus für Poesie. Students from the Johann-Gottfried-Herder-Gymnasium wrote a fairytale play together with spoken word artist Dean Ruddock. This play was then recorded as an audio play and is planned to be staged as a live audio play later on.

Our partners from art and culture:

Alongside our partners WABE, Theater unterm Dach and the Jugendtheateretage as well as the Haus für Poesie, we want to inspire young creative people to recognise the historically important area of the Ernst-Thälmann-Park. Our vision is to establish a youth cultural festival where children and teens can present their work and connect with each other, whether as visual artists, movie producers, dancers or poets… We want to bring together all art forms to give a platform for young artists, in order to support them in initiating their project ideas.
