The Belgian Adolphe Sax invented this instrument in the 1840s, evidently, it was also named after him. In the Parisian music scene of that time, the saxophone caused a furore and was promoted especially by Hector Berlioz.

Today, the saxophone is immensely prevalent in jazz music; it is not possible to imagine a jazz orchestra or a big band without the saxophone. However, the saxophone also plays a crucial role in classical music, for example in Gustav Mahler’s symphonies.

The blowing technique for a saxophone is very similar to that of the clarinet. We recommend saxophone lessons for children of a minimum age of 9 years. For a pleasant experience, a certain minimum height of arms and hands, as well as enough air, is required.

In their education, adults can choose between soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone saxophone.
