Salon Käthe – Matilda Leko Trio

Matilda Lekos Musik ist sehr facettenreich und sie wechselt gerne mal vom Mainstream zu einem Post-Bop-Stück, um schließlich wieder zum Balkan mit seinen ungeraden Rhythmen zu gelangen. Am 24. Mai 2019 um 19:30 Uhr hören wir unter anderem ironisch-politische Wiener Lieder aus ihrem Repertoire. Selbst geschrieben natürlich! Ihre Stimme ist bluesig, soulig und sehr variabel. Sie nutzt sie wie ein Instrument, wenn sie improvisiert. Matildas Improvisationen sind innovativ und einzigartig. Gerne wandert sie zwischen Jazzscales und balkanesken Verzierungen und setzt ihre Stimme auch perkussiv ein. Ihre Texte erzählen vom realen Leben, ihre Musik berührt. Matilda Leko ist in Wien geboren und studierte dort Jazz-Gesang. Sie hat serbische Wurzeln.

The innovative serbian singer & composer Matilda Leko grew up with various music and with the rich rhythms of the Balkan. She studied Jazz singing in Vienna and found her own sound mixing up the balkanese melodies & odd meters with Jazz. Matilda’s music is authentic and crosses borders. In her projects she demonstrates her full musical range as well as insight into the life of a musician. Her compositions are discretely accentuated with ethnic motives; they challenge and underscore her unusual and creative improvisations, so reminiscent of instrumental passages. Some of her songs would fit into the Jazz Standard Book as well. Her lyrics are courageous and poignant narrations of a way of life.
