The trumpet is a popular brass instrument, prevalent in classical music, and especially in jazz and pop music. With regard to soul, funk or ska music, the trumpet is a crucial component of brass ensembles which are inherent to these musical styles’ unique character.

We differentiate between natural trumpets and keyed or valve trumpets. The term “trumpet“, without any additional specification, describes only those instruments that regulate the sound by using valves. Normally, trumpets are held with the left hand, with the three middle fingers of the right hand pressing the valve triggers.

As early as about 3500 years ago, in ancient Egypt, instruments similar to trumpets were played. At the end of the Middle Ages, a twined trumpet became standard, the baroque trumpet. Up until the baroque period, the trumpet was considered an absolute symbol of power and was only played for festive occasions. The trumpet common today, with three valves, is known since 1830. Most commonly used is the so-called b-trumpet.

At our school, trumpet lessons can be taken up at the minimum age of 8 years. Children, teens or adults, beginners, advanced students or returnees – playing the trumpet is fun at any age.

With regard to the teaching structure, we will gladly follow your individual wishes and needs. You can choose between the different musical styles, whether you prefer classical music or jazz and pop music.
