The violoncello (cello) is, in principle, an enlarged violin, however, it has divergent proportions. Due to its large pitch range it can be used as a bass and melodious instrument. The cello encompasses all pitches of the human voice.

Due to its size, the cello is played while seated. The cellist holds the instrument upright between his or her knees and strokes the strings with a bow. The characteristic warm tones emerge from the fourfold increased frames. These highlight specific partial tones and especially the first overtone.

The violoncello came into being in 1535 in northern Italy. It is the bass instrument within the so-called ”Viola-Da-Braccio” family. This class of string instruments developed in the 15th and 16th century and includes today’s violas and violins too.

We will gladly adapt the cello lessons to your individual needs and preferences. You can choose between different music styles and options, for example between classical orchestra music or jazz, tango, pop or rock.
